A Companion to the Liturgy of the Hours: Morning and Evening Prayer by Shirley Darcus Sullivan
This book has been a great help to me in first praying the Liturgy of the Hours and remains so today when I'm tired, distracted and downhearted, when I just can't seem to be focused and rooted in the words of the Divine Office. It includes short meditations (usually a page and a half to two pages) on the psalms of the four week cycle plus the Canticles of Zechariah and Mary. Info on the back of the book reads:
"This Companion can be an invaluable aid to saying the Hours prayerfully. Drawing on the rich spirituality of Carmel, especially that of Elizabeth of the Trinity, it offers detailed instructions on how its contents can be used to attend the praying of the Hours.
"The spiritual commentaries on the psalms, canticles, and readings will surely help increase the depth and intensity of praying the Hours."
Pat will bring the book with her to our community meeting March 8 for anyone who wants to look at it. Catholic Book Publishing Co. has it and the link is http://www.catholicbookpublishing.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ProductID=299&DepartmentID=90
